Accessibility Statement
We want this website to work for everyone who needs a dentist. This page sets out what we build to, where the site currently falls short, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.
People come to a dental website for practical reasons: to find a clinic, to check what something costs, to work out whether MediSave will cover it, or to book. Those things should work whatever device you use, whatever size you need the text to be, and whether you use a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader or voice control.
What we are aiming for
We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA, which is the level most commonly used as a benchmark for public websites. We treat it as the standard to meet, not a box to tick, and we test against it when we rebuild a part of the site.
What we have done
- Pages are built with real headings, lists and landmarks, so a screen reader can move through them by structure rather than reading everything from the top.
- The navigation and the footer work entirely from the keyboard, and whatever has keyboard focus is visibly outlined.
- Text and background colours are checked by calculation against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds, not by eye.
- Links say where they go. We avoid “click here”, and links that open in a new tab say so.
- Nothing important is carried by an icon or by colour alone.
- Expandable sections use the browser’s own disclosure element, so they announce whether they are open or closed without needing any script, and their content stays readable if scripts fail.
- The site reflows down to a 320 pixel wide screen and still works at 200 percent browser zoom and 200 percent text size, with no horizontal scrolling.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, our animations switch off.
- Phone numbers are tappable, and tap targets are sized so they are not easy to miss.
- Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text.
Where the site currently falls short
We would rather tell you than let you find out.
- The site has been built up over several years. Older articles and some older pages predate the standard we now build to, and are being brought up to it a section at a time. Headings and alternative text on the oldest posts are the most likely gaps.
- Content we embed from other services, in particular YouTube videos, Google Maps and WhatsApp, is controlled by those companies. We choose accessible ways of embedding where we can, but we cannot fix the accessibility of their players and interfaces.
- Any document offered as a PDF may not be as accessible as the equivalent web page. If you need one in another format, ask and we will send it.
- Some illustrations and infographics summarise information that is also written out in the surrounding text. If you find one that is not, tell us and we will add the description.
Getting the same information another way
If any part of this site is difficult for you to use, you do not have to work around it. Call the clinic nearest you and we will tell you anything that is on the website, including fees, opening hours, directions and what a treatment involves. Every clinic’s number is on the clinics page and in the footer of every page. You can also message us on WhatsApp at +65 9007 1085.
If you have an access requirement for your visit itself, such as step free access, a longer appointment, help with forms, or a companion in the surgery with you, tell us when you book and we will arrange it.
Telling us about a problem
If something on this site does not work for you, please tell us. It helps most if you can say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, what happened, and what you were using, for example Safari on an iPhone with VoiceOver, or Chrome on Windows at 200 percent zoom.
Send it through our contact page, by WhatsApp on +65 9007 1085, or by calling any clinic. We aim to reply within three working days and to tell you what we intend to do about it.
About this statement
This statement covers www.nofrillsdental.com. It reflects our own assessment of the site, using a combination of automated checks and manual testing with a keyboard and a screen reader. It is not an independent audit, and we do not claim full conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA across every page.
We review this statement when we make a significant change to the site, and at least once a year.
Need to speak to someone?
Message us on WhatsApp at +65 9007 1085, call the clinic nearest you, or use the form on our contact page. We reply during clinic hours.
