Baby Bonus Scheme: Use Your Child's CDA at the Dentist
NoFrills Dental is a Baby Bonus Approved Institution, so you can pay for your child's dental care straight from their Child Development Account with the NETS-CDA card, at all four of our Singapore clinics. Bring the birth certificate on the first visit and we handle the rest.

Auto-deposited into every eligible child's CDA; $10,000 for third and subsequent children born from 18 February 2025
First Step Grant plus dollar-for-dollar government co-matching, by birth order
The CDA closes on 31 December of the year your child turns 12; leftover funds move to the PSEA
What the CDA is, and how much your child gets
The Child Development Account is the savings part of the Baby Bonus Scheme: the government deposits a First Step Grant automatically, then matches every dollar you save, up to a cap set by birth order. The funds can only be spent at Approved Institutions, which include approved dental and medical clinics, childcare centres and kindergartens, and they cannot be withdrawn as cash.
| Birth order | First Step Grant | Co-matching cap | Total CDA benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| First child | $5,000 | $4,000 | $9,000 |
| Second child | $5,000 | $7,000 | $12,000 |
| Third and fourth child | $10,000* | $9,000 | $19,000 |
| Fifth child and beyond | $10,000* | $15,000 | $25,000 |
*Third and subsequent Singapore citizen children born from 18 February 2025 receive a $10,000 First Step Grant under the Large Families Scheme; children born earlier receive $5,000. Bars compare total CDA benefits. Source: LifeSG, Baby Bonus Child Development Account.
What the CDA can pay for at the dentist
At an approved dental clinic, CDA funds cover the dental services our dentists provide and prescribe for your child: check-ups and consultations, fluoride treatment, fillings, extractions and braces for kids. Payment is made with the NETS-CDA card, and the CDA can be used for your other children too: withdrawals just have to be made by the CDA trustee for the benefit of the child or their siblings, with the relevant birth certificates shown.
Routine visits and preventive care for your child
Treatment provided by our dentists when it is needed
Early orthodontic care at any of our four clinics
CDA funds can only be spent at Approved Institutions, never withdrawn as cash

How to use the CDA at NoFrills Dental
- Book at any of our clinics (Suntec City, Marina Square, Marine Parade, Tanjong Katong) and let us know you will be paying with the CDA.
- On the first visit, bring your child's birth certificate and your own identification document. The birth certificate is not needed again for later visits to the same clinic; your ID is checked at every registration.
- Pay with the NETS-CDA card at the counter, exactly like a regular NETS payment.
- Using the CDA for a sibling? Bring both children's birth certificates so we can verify the family link at registration.

Use it before the CDA closes
You can save into and spend from the CDA until 31 December of the year your child turns 12. After that the account closes and any unused funds transfer to the child's Post-Secondary Education Account, where they can no longer be used at the dentist. If your child is approaching 12, it is worth using the remaining balance on check-ups or treatment before the year ends; you can check the balance any time in the Baby Bonus Family View with Singpass.
Deposits are matched dollar for dollar up to your cap, and the CDA pays at the dentist
Last day for deposits to receive government matching without delay
Unused funds transfer to the PSEA and can no longer pay for dental care
Frequently asked questions
Is NoFrills Dental a Baby Bonus Approved Institution?
Yes. All four NoFrills Dental clinics in Singapore accept CDA payment as a Baby Bonus Approved Institution, and we appear in MSF's official list of Approved Institutions. Payment is made with the NETS-CDA card.
What dental treatment can I pay for with the CDA?
Dental services provided and prescribed for your child by our dentists: check-ups, fluoride treatment, fillings, extractions and braces for kids. The CDA cannot be withdrawn as cash and can only be spent at Approved Institutions.
What do I need to bring?
On the first visit: your child's birth certificate, your identification document and the NETS-CDA card. On later visits to the same clinic, just your ID and the NETS-CDA card.
Can I use one child's CDA for a brother or sister?
Yes. CDA withdrawals can be made by the CDA trustee for the benefit of the child or their siblings at Approved Institutions. Bring both children's birth certificates so the family link can be verified.
What happens to the CDA when my child turns 12?
The CDA closes on 31 December of the year your child turns 12, and unused funds move to the Post-Secondary Education Account, which cannot be used for dental care. 15 December is the last day for deposits to receive government co-matching in that final year.
How much is in the CDA to begin with?
Every eligible Singapore citizen child receives a First Step Grant automatically: $5,000, or $10,000 for third and subsequent children born from 18 February 2025. The government then matches your own deposits dollar for dollar up to $4,000 for a first child, $7,000 for a second, $9,000 for a third or fourth, and $15,000 from the fifth child on.
