Dental Implants in Singapore: Types, Process & What They Really Cost
Losing a tooth changes more than your smile — it changes how you chew, speak, and feel walking into a room. Here's every implant option available in Singapore today, what actually happens on the table, and the real numbers behind the price tag, including how far your Medisave stretches.
01 — Overview
What Exactly Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. A small titanium fixture is placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over several months. Once that fixture is stable, it supports an abutment and a crown that's shaped, shaded, and fitted to sit exactly where your natural tooth used to be.
Unlike a denture or bridge, an implant doesn't rely on neighbouring teeth for support, and it doesn't shift when you eat or speak. That's the main reason implants have become the default recommendation for tooth loss — but they're not a single, one-size-fits-all procedure. The right approach depends on how many teeth are missing, how much bone is available to work with, and what you're trying to achieve.
"For patients who struggle to chew because of missing teeth, or who are tired of dentures shifting mid-conversation, implants offer a fixed, long-term way to replace a tooth — not just cover the gap."
02 — Why Here
Why Get It Done in Singapore
Singapore's dental sector is tightly regulated, and most implant dentists here train through recognised residency pathways before touching a case involving bone grafting or full-arch work. Combine that with 3D intraoral scanning and guided-surgery planning, and the margin for error on placement is small.
There's also a financial angle that's fairly unique to Singapore: Medisave can be used to help offset part of the surgical cost of an implant, and CHAS or Pioneer Generation subsidies may apply to related procedures for eligible patients. That's not something patients get in most countries where implants are otherwise cheaper up front.
At NoFrills Dental, we've built our practice specifically around making that combination — qualified surgeons, modern planning technology, and Medisave-eligible treatment — accessible across four clinics island-wide, rather than concentrated in one flagship location.

04 — The Process
Your Treatment Journey, Step by Step
Most cases run four to six months from first scan to final crown — longer if a bone graft is needed first.
01
Consultation & Scans
Your dentist reviews your oral health and takes X-rays and a 3D intraoral scan to measure exactly how much bone is available and where each implant should sit. This is also where you'll land on the right implant type for your case.
Bone Prep (If Needed)
If there isn't enough bone to support an implant, a sinus lift or bone graft rebuilds the foundation first. This step is skipped entirely for patients with healthy bone volume, or worked around using pterygoid or zygomatic implants.
02
03
Implant Fixture Placement
Under local (or general) anaesthesia, the titanium fixture is placed into the jawbone using a surgical guide planned from your earlier scans. It's then left to heal beneath the gum.
Osseointegration
The fixture fuses directly with the surrounding jawbone — the process that locks it permanently in place. This is the single biggest factor behind an implant's long-term success.
04
05
Prosthesis Fitting
Once the fixture has fully integrated, an abutment is attached and a custom crown, bridge, or denture is fitted on top — shaped and shaded to match your existing teeth.
Long-Term Reviews
Regular checkups every 6–8 months monitor the health of the implant and surrounding gum, catching any issues early to protect its lifespan.

What Does It Actually Cost?
A single tooth implant in Singapore typically runs $1,950 to $6,000+ before Medisave — covering both the surgical fixture and the final crown.
That range moves depending on the implant brand used (we work with Straumann, Osstem, Dentium, and Bicon systems), the material of the final crown, and whether a bone graft or sinus lift is needed first to support the implant.

06 — FAQ
Questions Patients Ask Us Most
How long do dental implants actually last?
With proper care and good oral hygiene, implants typically last more than 25 years — for many patients, they're a one-time procedure rather than a recurring cost.
What's the actual success rate?
Around 90–95% of implants integrate successfully. In the small number of cases where an implant doesn't fuse to the bone, it's removed and the site is left to heal before trying again in 3–6 months. Smoking is one of the more significant factors linked to lower success rates.
I don't have enough jawbone — am I still a candidate?
Often, yes. A bone graft or sinus lift can rebuild the foundation needed for a traditional implant, though it adds several months of healing time. Alternatively, pterygoid or zygomatic implants anchor further back in the skull specifically to avoid needing a graft at all.
Can I really use Medisave for this?
Yes. Medisave can be used to offset part of the surgical cost per implant, subject to CPF Board approval. The remaining out-of-pocket amount is usually split across the placement and crown stages rather than paid in one lump sum.
Does the surgery hurt?
The procedure itself is done under local (or general, for multiple implants) anaesthesia, so you shouldn't feel pain during placement. Some tenderness and swelling afterward is normal and manageable with medication as you recover.
Implants or dentures — which is actually better?
It depends on your budget, bone health, and how many teeth are missing. Implants are fixed and don't shift, but cost more upfront; dentures cost less initially but need ongoing adjustment. Your dentist can walk through which trade-offs matter most for your case.
What implant brands does NoFrills Dental use?
We work with Straumann, Osstem, Dentium, and Bicon systems, so your dentist can match the brand and price point to your specific case rather than offering a single option.
Not Sure Which Option Is Right For You?
Every case is different — bone density, number of missing teeth, and budget all affect the best approach. The clearest way to know your options is a hands-on assessment with digital imaging.
